Virtual Health Education for Students

Prisma Health offers on-demand health education for students in grades 3–5 using a curriculum based on childhood obesity prevention and reduction. Any afterschool program is eligible for this free online instruction.

The program includes:

  • 13 lessons.
  • Online physical activities.
  • Pre/Post tests.
  • Weekly quizzes.
  • Handouts.
  • Incentives for participation.

Each lesson is between 8–10 minutes and includes nutritional and physical health instruction. Grades 3-5 are preferred, but content is appropriate for 2nd graders.

Thirteen weekly lessons are provided, broken into two sections:
  • Lessons 1–7 are physical health education, provided by Prisma Health.
  • Lessons 8–13 are nutritional health, provided by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC).
What you need to participate:
  • A lead teacher or program coordinator.
  • Access to a computer/YouTube and online/email connections with students.
  • Projector for group delivery or individual student computer access.
