Health Screenings

Prisma Health offers a variety of free health screenings in the Midlands. To register, call 803-296-CARE (2273).

Cholesterol, diabetes and cancer screenings

Prisma Health offers free cholesterol and diabetes testing along with breast, prostate, lung and cervical cancer screenings.

Qualifications required for free screenings:

  • Prostate screenings: African-American men age 40-69; all other men age 50-69
  • Colonoscopies: Men and women, age 50 and older
  • Clinical breast exams: Women age 21 and older
  • Mammograms: Women age 40 and older
  • Pap smears: Women age 21 and older
  • Diabetes Screening Eligibility: Risk is determined by completing the American Diabetes Association risk assessment card. Screenings will not be performed for anyone previously diagnosed with diabetes.
    • Non-diabetic adults age 18-44 who are “high risk” for developing type 2 diabetes
    • Non-diabetic adults age 45 and over are eligible for testing regardless of risk

Community Health Women’s Clinic

 

Screenings are offered every second and third Tuesday, 5:30–7:15 p.m.

Community Health Men’s Clinic

  • Screenings are offered every fourth Thursday, 5:30–7:15 p.m.
  • Diabetes
  • Prostate cancer

Other community screenings

Prisma Health provides other free health screenings at various times throughout the community. Screenings available include cholesterol (no fasting required), glucose, diabetes (HbA1c), cervical exams, breast exams, prostate testing (PSA and DRE), body measurements and blood pressure.
