Jason Wimberly, ATC
Manager, Athletic Training
Jason Wimberly, MS, SCAT, ATC, grew up in South Carolina and attended Clemson University for a bachelor’s degree in health science and the University of North Carolina Greensboro for a master’s degree in athletic training. He has experience working as an athletic trainer in middle schools, high schools, collegiate athletics, the orthopedic clinic setting and in industrial settings.
In addition to 18 years of athletic training experience, Wimberly has served as the manager of athletic training at Prisma Health since July 2015. Jason’s responsibilities include management of outreach athletic training staff covering over 60 high schools, middle schools and colleges throughout the midlands of South Carolina. In addition, he oversees non-traditional athletic training sites including industrial, wellness, tactical and athletic training virtual care.
Outside of work, Wimberly likes to spend time with his wife Leanne and two sons, Layton and Cullen.
Charlie Emerson, ATC
Benedict College
Charlie Emerson, MS, ATC, joined the Prisma Health team in 2022, returning to Columbia after seven years of working as a Head Athletic Trainer at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
He is currently the Head Athletic Trainer and at Benedict College and is a supervisor.
Emerson is from Connecticut and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. He later went on to earn a master’s degree at the University of South Carolina while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with Eau Claire High School and USC’s track and field program. His other athletic training work experience includes NC State working with the track and cross-country teams at Airport High School and South Carolina State. Emerson has also volunteered as a medical volunteer at the Boston Marathon for multiple years.
Niki Gay, ATC
Supervisor, Sumter Region
Niki Gay, MS, SCAT, ATC, is a certified athletic trainer with Prisma Health and supervisor of the Sumter, South Carolina region. She is currently in her 16th year as the outreach athletic trainer at Lugoff-Elgin High School. She has also assisted the employees at Continental Tire in injury prevention programs for the past two years. She supervises the athletic trainers in Sumter County as well as the industrial athletic trainers.
Gay grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University for her bachelor’s degree in sport and leisure studies before heading south to the University of South Carolina to obtain her master’s degree in physical education. Before working at LEHS, she was an athletic trainer and teacher at Lexington High School for 3 years.
Gay is married with three children and enjoys decorating cookies in her free time.
Brad Hill, ATC
Lexington County School Districts Two and Four, SC United, USC Campus Recreation
Brad Hill, MS, SCAT, ATC is a certified athletic trainer with Prisma Health. He is the primary athletic trainer at Brookland-Cayce High School and supervises the athletic trainers in Lexington 2, Lexington 4, SC United, and USC Campus Rec.
HIll attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe and received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science. He then worked as an athletic trainer at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and at various high schools in Louisiana. He made the move to Columbia from Monroe, Louisiana, in September 2020.
HIll is married to Rebekah, and they have two sons, Jadon and Judah . He enjoys playing golf, kayaking and spending time with his family.
Jonathan Jenkins, ATC
Supervisor, Lexington Region
Jonathan Jenkins, MS, SCAT, ATC, is a dedicated member of the Prisma Health Athletic Training program since 2018. He currently serves as the supplemental athletic trainer at Lexington High School and holds the role of athletic training supervisor for Lexington and Lexington-Richland 5.
Jonathan completed his bachelor's degree in athletic training at the University of South Carolina in 2018 and later earned a master's degree in health science with a concentration in rehabilitation science from the Rocky Mountain School of Health Professions.
Prior to his career in healthcare, Jonathan's journey began in Reno, Nevada. In 2004, he joined the Army, where he served for 15 years. His final military posting was at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he worked as an instructor.
Jonathan is also a husband, having been married to Amanda since 2014. His diverse background in both the military and healthcare fields brings a unique perspective to his work.
TJ Marsh, ATC
Supervisor, Richland County School District One
TJ Marsh, Med, SCAT, ATC NRP, is an athletic trainer at Richland County School District One in Columbia, South Carolina.
She received her bachelor's degree in education and majored in exercise and sport Science/pre-athletic training at the University of Georgia in Athens. After graduation, she went on to earn a master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where she also worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Marsh completed the paramedic program at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville in 2003.
Over her athletic training career, Marsh has worked at high schools and gymnastic gyms in Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina. She served as a program director for sports medicine for a hospital in Tennessee and expanded rural sports medicine coverage for local high schools. She also coordinated special events and medical planning coverage for large events. She helped start an athletic training virtual care line for athletes in South Carolina, scheduled appointments with sports medicine hotline referrals for 30+ schools in the midlands and currently serves as the leader of a charity committee where she has helped implement an annual scholarship and raised almost $200,000. Recently, Marsh was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by the Governor of South Carolina for saving the life of a student athlete.
Greg McMillen, ATC
Newberry College
Greg McMillen, MS, ATC, SCAT, CSCS, is the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Athletic Healthcare Administrator and Head Athletic Trainer for Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. He received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in athletic training and physical education in 1988 and went on to Syracuse University where he completed his master’s degree in physical education in 1990.
He began his professional journey as graduate assistant at Syracuse University and went on to work as head athletic trainer for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL, the Birmingham Iron of the AAF and the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. He has also been part of the staff of two sports medicine clinics in the outreach and performance departments.
McMillen is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard as Hospital Corpsman and earned two Sikorsky Air Rescue Awards. He has also received numerous awards in the field of athletic training, including the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society ED Block Courage Award, NFL Training Staff of the Year, Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society and Tim Davey Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year AFC.
Jeffrey Sincavage, ATC
Supervisor, Northeast Region
Jeffrey Sincavage, MS, SCAT, ATC, is an athletic training supervisor with Prisma Health. Originally from Lititz, Pennsylvania, he received his undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Temple University in Philadelphia and his master's degree from the University of South Carolina in physical education with a concentration in athletic training.
Sincavage provides outreach athletic training coverage for Ridge View High School in northeast Columbia. He supervises outreach athletic trainers in the Northeast region and maintains the contracts and relationships with the five high schools and seven middle schools in Richland School District Two as well as Lugoff-Elgin High school and the Cardinal Newman School.

John Thorpe, ATC
Manager
John Thorpe, M.Ed., SCAT, CSCS, was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. John attended Northeast Louisiana University for his bachelor’s in kinesiology and his master’s degree in exercise physiology. He also earned a commission in the US Army and has experience in many aspects of sports medicine including high school and college sports, minor league hockey and an additional field of study in ergonomics and worksite analysis.
As a member of Prisma Health for over 20 years, Thorpe has served the network in management for more than 14 of those years. His role includes managing a staff of nearly 50 athletic trainers (ATC’s) in a wide range of settings, marketing and public relations, coordination of community event coverage, contract negotiations, and day-to-day operations.
Thorpe calls Greer home and has lived in the greater Greenville, South Carolina, area for over 21 years. In his free time, he enjoys golf, shooting sports and spending time with his family and friends.
Joni Canter, ATC
Supervisor
Joni Canter, SCAT, ATC, MBA, grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota, for her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and Walden University for a master’s degree in business administration.
She has experience working as an athletic trainer in middle schools, high schools, the physical therapy clinic setting, youth hockey, Canadian U16 Soccer, WUSA Soccer and for 17 years at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.
Currently, she is the primary athletic trainer at Riverside High School and supervises athletic trainers in Greenville County and Spartanburg County District 2.
Canter is married to Jeremy, and they have two children, Aaron and Lydia. She enjoys cooking, crafting and spending time with her family.
Samantha Nance, ATC
Supervisor
Samantha Nance, SCAT, ATC, grew up in South Carolina and attended Winthrop University, earning a bachelor's degree in athletic training. She has experience working as an athletic trainer in middle and high schools. Since beginning her career with Prisma Health in 2015, Nance has served in several roles. Currently she is the primary athletic trainer for Wade Hampton High School as well as a supervisor of athletic training. When she isn't working, Nance likes to spend time with her family and dog. She enjoys visiting national parks and hot yog
David Webb, ATC
Supervisor
David R. Webb, SCAT, ATC, grew up in southern Ohio and attended Marshall University, earning a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He has experience working as an athletic trainer in middle schools, high schools, collegiate athletics and the orthopedic clinic setting.
Since arriving at Prisma Health and accruing over 20 years of athletic training experience primarily in the high school setting, Webb has served as the primary athletic trainer at Eastside High School since July of 2010. He has also acted as a supervisor of athletic training at Prisma Health since November 2021. His responsibilities include management of outreach for the athletic training network at the central Greenville County Schools and contracted charter schools in Greenville County.
Outside of work, Webb enjoys spending time with his wife, Samantha, and dog, Gibbs, as well as lifting weights and reading.
