Cancer Support Community (CSC) at Prisma Health offers support programs to address the social and emotional needs of all cancer survivors, as well as the needs of their family members, friends and caregivers. The programs offered through CSC are open to anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis. All programs are free of charge, evidence based and facilitated by licensed professionals. You do not have to been seen by a provider at Prisma Health to participate.
Social and emotional support is as important as medical care in the face of a cancer diagnosis. From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, the effects of cancer aren’t only physical – there is a profound emotional and social impact as well. Joining a community of people who have experienced cancer can decrease the sense of isolation, improve stress management and increase feelings of control.
After cancer, I struggled to get myself back on track. What should I eat? How do I start an exercise plan? How do I manage the stress caused by lifestyle changes? I wondered how I could afford classes and counselors. My answers came with an introduction to Cancer Support Community. With no cost to survivors, CSC has a calendar filled with activities designed to help rebuild lives. In CSC, I have found a safe place to heal and thrive.
