We’re a designated a Baby-Friendly hospital
Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital is designated as a Baby-Friendly hospital, which means we promote breastfeeding through rooming-in, encouragement of skin-to-skin contact, and lactation support. Our internationally board-certified lactation experts can provide the encouragement and support you need to learn to breastfeed successfully, and our childbirth educators will answer any questions you have about caring for your little one once you return home.
Our services and features
- Six labor, delivery and recovery rooms; spacious, private birthing rooms featuring birthing beds (where mothers labor and deliver their babies).
- Newborn Nursery, where your baby stays safe and comfortable while mom rests.
- The Magnolia Suite provides cares for women before and after childbirth as well as after gynecologic surgery. The unit is designed for modified mother and baby care, sometimes called couplet care. After delivery, new mothers are encouraged to room-in, or “nest” with their new baby. One nurse cares for both mother and baby, enhancing the communication process.
Our Lactation Services nurses provide inpatient care for all nursing mothers throughout Women's and Children's Services. The program also includes outpatient lactation services, follow-up appointments for intervention and support of nursing mothers by an internationally board-certified lactation consultant.
