Inpatient Spinal Cord Program

The Inpatient Spinal Cord Program at Roger C. Peace Hospital (RCPH) offers a variety of services and maintains specialty accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). RCPH provides rehabilitation to individuals with spinal cord injuries at all levels.

RCPH is a member of the United Spinal Association, and many clinicians are members of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA), a premier North American organization in the field of spinal cord injury care and education.

Inpatient rehabilitation services include:

  • A comprehensive and interdisciplinary team of physiatrists, nurses, dietitians, therapists, case managers and psychologists dedicated to providing expert care to those with spinal cord injury
  • A specialty unit including patient rooms, nursing care units, and gym space specifically designed to meet the unique needs of a person with a spinal cord injury
  • Specialized medical management, nursing and therapy in a hospital setting
  • Spasticity management
  • Specialized wheelchair seating with a certified ATP (assistive technology practitioner)
  • Psychology services
  • Individualized family training to prepare families and caregivers for a safe transition home
  • Co-treatment with interdisciplinary teams
  • Community outings
  • Transition to the next appropriate level of care when you graduate from the inpatient rehabilitation program

Spinal Cord Long Term Acute Care Program

This CARF-accredited specialty program is for people diagnosed with a spinal cord injury who are on a ventilator/and or trach. The program utilizes a specialized core of professionals who work together to provide early, acute rehabilitation to restore people with SCI to their highest level of potential physically, socially, emotionally, financially and to liberate them from the ventilator. The interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to meet the patient's and family's goals within a program model that supports the mission, vision and core values of the organization.
