Richland Perinatal Systems Educational Programs
The primary role of our outreach nurses at Prisma Health Richland Hospital Perinatal Systems is to provide education for perinatal caregivers. We offer courses based upon input from our annual needs assessment that we disseminate to each hospital in the Midlands region.
Our courses include:
- Core neonatal competencies (NRP, STABLE).
- Core OB competencies (basic through advanced fetal monitoring) .
- Recognition and management of complications.
- Stabilization for transport.
- Updates and reviews of standards of care.
We also assist with clinical orientation for new or seasoned nursing staff and offer skill and competency reviews at region hospitals, emergency drills (mega codes, shoulder dystocia, placental abruption) and clinical preceptorships on Prisma Health Richland Hospital units. We are pleased to offer a variety of educational programs to serve the needs of perinatal staff in the Midlands region of South Carolina.
Upcoming Midlands Perinatal Regional Conference: April 29–30, 2021
Upcoming webinar: March 26, 2021, 9–11 a.m.

Our department coordinates meetings for several groups (i.e. perinatal managers, region perinatal board, state perinatal social workers/case managers, joint hospital and health department meetings). These gatherings provide an opportunity for sharing new things, discussing pressing issues and networking between professionals from different facilities.
