PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency

Prisma Health Richland Hospital – University of South Carolina

Our PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency program provides a rigorous foundation to ensure that you hone your clinical skills in this specialty area while offering flexibility for you to attain specialized training in the aspects of this dynamic field that most interest you. Our program directors are eager to work with you to customize your residency experience.

One-month experiences (required)

One-month experiences (elective)

  • Academia
  • MICU
  • Community hospital stewardship
  • Pediatric ID consults
  • Global health
  • Repeat any of the required experiences

Longitudinal experiences (required)

  • Leadership and practice management
  • Weekend central staffing rotation
  • Participation in clinical on-call program
  • University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy Clinical Teaching Certificate (at discretion of RPD if teaching certificate completed during PGY1)
  • Complete one major research project to be presented at the Southeastern Residency Conference (SERC)

Interprofessional opportunities (required)

    • ID case conference
    • ID journal club
    • Management meeting/genotype
    • Mandell’s
    • ID monthly research meetings

*Resident will attend and present at the interprofessional conferences.

Additional requirements

  • Provide a minimum of one Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited continuing education program for Pharmacy Grand Rounds
  • Provide two lunch and learn presentations to the pharmacy department
  • Attend Residency Research Series
  • Present at UofSC School of Medicine Internal Medicine Resident Noon Conference
  • Attend monthly ASST meetings
  • Attend weekly ASST and ECHO/ASC-SC meetings based on experience for the month
  • Prepare a manuscript worthy of submission to a peer-reviewed journal
  • Co-precept pharmacy students and/or PGY1 residents
  • Provide UofSC College of Pharmacy Didactic lectures
  • Poster presentation at Discover SC
  • Provide UofSC School of Medicine M3 Clerkship ID lectures
