PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency

Prisma Health Richland Hospital – University of South Carolina

PGY1 required experiences

  • Adult general acute care (internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics)
  • Adult specialized acute care (cardiology, emergency medicine, oncology, or other critical care option)
  • Ambulatory care (ACCES/PCMH clinics, family medicine center, heart failure/LVAD clinic, internal medicine clinic, physician practices)
  • Infectious disease (adult antimicrobial stewardship, pediatric antimicrobial stewardship, or ID consult service)
  • Medical intensive care or coronary care unit
  • Pediatrics (general pediatrics, PICU, pediatric antimicrobial stewardship, pediatric hematology/oncology)
  • Pharmacy operations/orientation

PGY1 elective experiences

  • Clinical pharmacy leadership (strongly encouraged during PGY1 year)
  • Executive pharmacy leadership (strongly encouraged during PGY1 year)
  • Pharmacy operations leadership (strongly encouraged during PGY1 year)
  • Choice of one administrative/leadership or clinical experience (see below)

PGY1 longitudinal experiences

  • Optional longitudinal experience – administrative or ambulatory care clinic (resident-based internal medicine or family medicine center, heart failure/LVAD clinic or physician practices)
