Pharmacy Residency Programs – Columbia

Prisma Health Richland Hospital – University of South Carolina

At Prisma Health, we have offered an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited residency program in pharmacy practice since 1972. Administered jointly with the University of South Carolina Columbia, our programs are housed at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, a 641-bed regional teaching hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, that treats patients from every county in the state.

General and specialty pharmacy training

We currently offer two postgraduate year one (PGY1) residencies, five postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and one combined PGY1/PGY2 program. Specialties include acute care, administration, ambulatory care, cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine and pediatrics.

Combined PGY1/PGY2 residencies

New for 2020-21, our combined PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency is designed to develop students into effective leaders of pharmacy practice. Graduates of this program are prepared for clinical, operational, or executive leadership positions in a variety of healthcare settings.
